THEY THAT KNOW

I was on my way to town one of the days this week. I had a sudden deadline to beat.(You know the kind of deadlines that you did not know exist and Voila! Mwarray urgently do this...without fail.) The clock was ticking fast, seemingly faster than normal. My heart thumped even faster than the clock. There was a lot at stake if I didn't meet it.

As I sat at the window, I watched the conductor stop to pick more passengers I remembered the notorious traffic jam that would possibly be awaiting ahead. I couldn't help but get worried the more. I whispered to the lady seated next to me.. Aki si Mungu afungue tu hii jam leo.... That was an icebreaker and soon enough we started sharing. She remembered with nostalgia of instances when the Lord had come through for her in many ways before. I shared of my instances too..

After conversing with my seatmate for a while she turned and said "kama unamjua ongea na yeye anaeza kufungulia ata hii njia" I loved the sound of that. The statement made God sound so real as real as I loved Him to be. "Hakuna kitu hawezi fanya kwa mwenye anamwamini" I was reminded of the verse that says that They that know their God will do exploits..There was nothing exploits about beating a deadline but from the way my seatmate talked about knowing God and asking Him anything I thought it was still big enough to write about. I felt encouraged and hopeful..

From the discomfort of the bus I whispered a short prayer reminding God that there is nothing He couldn't do and asked Him to do what He does. I then opened my eyes and continued to stare at the ticking time while waiting for  God to make His timely intervention. Intervene He did; the jam cleared soon enough.. I arrived at the office I was heading to; only to be redirected to another building.. I panicked a bit..Time is moving I said helplessly.. Then I remembered that God knew I had tried my best.. including praying so
my conscience would still be clear.

To avoid lengthening the short story, I made it. I beat the deadline by a whisker. I do not want to take it as normalcy. If you were in my shoes maybe you would understand why this was rather miraculous for me. So here goes my thank you God, and my encouragement to you to just call on Him form wherever. Isn't it great that we have God we can call on from anywhere including a matatu and He answers?
