Patience is one difficult virtue because giving up would be easier to do.You see, there are times when you wonder if there is need to still hold on.You reckon that you would rather simply give up and move on with life.
In the Gospel according to John, a story is told of an invalid who sat at the Healing Pool for 38 years without anyone to help him into the pool. Every time he tried to get in,he found someone had already entered, so he sat back to wait for the next available opportunity.

I have read this story several times before, but it had never crossed my mind what it means to sit at a given spot for a whole 38 years with the hope that "tomorrow will be a better day" " tomorrow will be my healing day". Always waiting on somebody to help him into the pool, yet no one helped him.. It never hit me how frustrated that man might have felt to find somebody already in the pool and think "that should have been me". Imagine always finding the sign:
"Healing Pool Engaged at the moment"..
"Healing Pool Engaged at the moment"..
Then one day, 38 years into his suffering Jesus appears and asks him "Do you want to be healed". Well he goes on to explain his predicament yet a simple Yes would have sufficed. However, what interested me most is :on that day he was healed, he picked his mat and walked away;what a happy day that must have been.
Picture the Syrophoenician woman who bled on and on for twelve years. The mental picture I get of her is one to pity. She goes to all the known doctors but none are of help. All they did is to leave her helpless by the day.. However, she continued to seek for help. Then one day, oh one beautiful day, she touched the hem of His garment and she was healed.
Today I write to someone on the verge of giving up because you feel that there is no one to help you into the pool when the water is stirred. You have applied for jobs but there is no one to hold your hand when the water is stirred..You have trusted God for a promotion but when the water is stirred someone else gets into the pool. You have been to weddings as a bridesmaid always hoping to be the next bride. You have always hoped that you are next in line yet seemingly somebody takes your turn.
When you feel like you want to give up, remember there was a man who faithfully sat by the pool with the hope for healing. Had that man not been at the pool on that day when Jesus passed by, He would have remained crippled.
So do we all sit and wallow in self pity?
I do not in any way insinuate that you should sit down like a helpless victim of circumstances. NO. Even the crippled man kept trying to get into the pool. However, I suggest that you do not leave the Healing pool until your healing comes. Keep pushing until it is your time. Your healing is on its way.. Your part of the bargain is to not give up. Wait your turn.

Friend, it matters that you have waited long enough. It matters to God too. I know you want to give up.. Please don't give up just yet. I know of Jesus.. He healed the prolonged sicknesses. In His compassion, He turned around situations for people. His hem is as powerful now as it was then. Your turn to touch that hem is coming. If you don't give up just yet.
So hang in there,won't you?
Encouraging :-) Keep on! You are touching lives!
