HE IS JEALOUS

We know God to be good,awesome,wonderful, miracle worker, healer, faithful,great, unchanging, promise keeping, to name but a few.. One characteristic we have often overlooked is that He is Jealous.. How now we ask, why would God be jealous? Well He is too jealous to share His glory with anyone.. Too jealous to have His position replaced by anything, and most especially, He is jealous for you, and for me,not what you do for Him, but You in your entirety

I am of the conviction that God desires our relationship with Him more than anything we can do. In Revelation 2:1-5.God acknowledges the Church in Ephesus for the many good works they have done but He rebukes them and exhorts them to return to their first love. I am tempted to think that God was warning them against idolizing their good works and their labor for Him.

² I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. ³ You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. ⁴ Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. ⁵ Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first.

When Jesus visits Mary and Martha, Martha is so preoccupied with work while Mary chooses to sit at the feet of Jesus. Jesus comments that Mary has chosen the right thing.. He has chosen Jesus. If I were Martha I would have felt so bad more like Jesus was not appreciative of what she was doing, of how hardworking and industrious; she was doing her best at least to ensure that all systems at the home were running just fine. If she was not doing the chores, who would do it?The truth is Jesus appreciated her work yes but what He desired, more than her works is Her. in Luke 10:41-42

⁴¹ “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, ⁴² but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

For the men reading this, imagine what it would feel like if you bought a cellphone for your wife and rather than easing the communication between the two of you, it severes it. instead of communicating with you, it is used to communicate with every one else except yourself. As a church,God has betrothed us to Christ, He desires that we would be wholly given to in with a sincere and pure devotion.

As I pondered about how jealous God can be, I was reminded of the times when we trust God for something and when it comes it stands in our way to meet Him. For instance, when we  trust God for a job then as soon as we get it we cease to seek Him , it must be saddening for Him. If it were me I would feel really cheated on...like nimechezwo.... 

I believe that God desires that when He blesses us, His blessings would open our eyes to seek Him the more. I pray that we will never cause God to relent His blessing. You see, He is God , He is sovereign. Jealousy causes people to do many things. May we never make God to withdraw His blessing just in a bid to have us back to Him .Don't make God to feel cheated upon
