IT NEVER WAS RIO

In my younger days, a motivational speaker(luckily I don't remember His name) told us that
"Life is a race; run it; Life is a competition; win it".
For quite some time I enrolled into the competition. Compete I did. I must say I competed well above average. Always trying to be better than a neigbour.Today, I look behind I see no people.. So am I last? No, Truth is we were never on the same track. Somewhere along the way, our paths diverged everyone followed their own. I was alone on mine.

The Olympics start today in Rio and the athletes will be competing to make their countries proud. Athletes compete because they have a finish line hence the question is who gets there first. However, The end of earthly life is in death, so why would we compete? We compete to win but if the prize is death then it ceases to be a competition.

Everyday, companies are producing new products to rival with their competitors. Well let's say I have learnt with time that  human beings are not products. Products are allowed to compete in the market because one is better than another.

Enough people are living depressed lives because they are competing with their peers and clearly they  seem to be far below the mark.  I have come to appreciate that we are not in competition against anyone. Our races are so unique that we can only compete with ourselves. We can only keep getting ahead if ourselves and being better today than we were yesterday.

Happy and Liberating is the day when we realize that we are not competing with anyone. Then, we are able to be contented and to realize that those that are seemingly ahead of us are in the real sense not ahead. The difference is purpose.  While I agree to the fact that we are in a the race of life, we are not in a competition against anyone

.

I am older and wiser now. And I know for a fact that life was never like Rio Olympics. I know  that God's purpose for each one if our lives is unique oh so unique.
Quit the competition.
Run to your destiny.
Thank me later:-)
